Good, clear macro shots will depend largely on the type of camera and lenses. Blog mentioned above is good, and there are lots of others.

I dont have fancy, expensive camera equipment. I use a Sony Cyber-Shot which I love and has a macro setting on it. I think when I get too close to the object the end result is blurry. Trail and error!
Yes, Trial and error is the best method. I too have a relatively cheap camera, a canon sx30. But.. I shoot A LOT of photos. Maybe only 1 out of 50 is what i “like”.. the rest are just a learning experience. I tend to shoot a particular object ( I shoot a lot at the beach too) from many different angles.

Yeah JA, no experience with your camera type. I have a dedicated Macro for my Nikon and I have had some success but never read much except T&A. Juliet has this phenomenal little macro lens for her iPhone that takes killer macros called OloClip…
Im happy with my camera, I just need to learn how to use it better! I dont even have a cell phone let alone a lens that attaches to the phone!
yeah, my comments were more to say I wish I could help rather than suggesting you make any changes. If you do not have a cell phone I admire you much more than before

Maybe we had a miss-communication, I’m sorry if my previous comment may have seemed sarcastic and I can see now how it reads like that, with my poor punctuation. I’ve seen what the iPhones can do and I’m pretty impressed, yet blown away with technology. In a FB group for expats in Italy, I made a comment saying that I should have been born in the 20′s, with flapper dresses and raw basics.
